Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensors (MAP)

Barometric Pressure Sensors (BPS) Measures height above sea level.

Description: MAP measures manifold pressures and BPS measures barometric pressure through changing voltage and sends this information to the on-board ECU.

The computer uses this and other inputs to calculate the correct amount of fuel delivered.

A faulty MAP Sensor can lead to the following problems;

Spark plug detonation
Check Engine Light
Engine stalls or will not start
Unstable or erratic running engine
Abnormal increase of fuel consumption
Engine power loss
Misfiring
Smokey emissions
